Country Spiders

Just a reminder of certain realities to urbanites eager to move to the land...

I was all like.... spiders are good.  We need to let things live so that we can have a balanced, sustainable eco-farm..

  1. We had a spider similar to that, maybe not as big but really not far off, (certainly the biggest i ever saw in person, not being at the zoo) he/she was just hanging out in our hallway. I didn't even know spiders that big existed in America! Lol! Needless to say, he wasn't around for long after I got the courage to smack him with a shoe and leave the evidence for Jim so he knew I wasn't exaggerating. miss u guys!

  3. Oh, that is a wolf spider - and yes they get big - but they won't hurt you. It's the creepy little ones that worry me!

  5. yea... those 2 spiders that were building webs near your flood light when I came to visit seriously grossed me out. Every time I walked underneath the web I couldn't help but thinking it was going to drop suddenly down my shirt and it would be all heavy and... ugh.

  6. I totally killed one that big that my daughter, who at the time was not 12 months, carried out to me. We had just moved onto our farm and I was still unpacking everything. Pretty sure I screamed, did a heebiejeebies dance, searched for big shoes (a spider that size cannot be killed with a mere flip flop), sucked it up and stomped the daylights out of her/him/don't care. Have you seen the Al Capone Spider meme? That's what I turn into when I see any spider no matter how small...
